I came across this awesome photo that puts everything in writing and illustrations that go through professional's heads (Yes our brains are this colorful and scattered). This also influenced me to write this blog post.
Since Amy Matthews Photography & I have teamed up to start our first photography class, we have decided we will be scheduling another one soon.
Amy posts Tips every Tuesday on her blog to help train your eye with some of the basic fundamentals! You can find the link here:

The first class a few months ago had a wide range of skill levels. Some wanted to learn to take better photos at their children's soccer games, some wanted to learn more about the business side, but all had the same idea; wanting to improve their photography skills.
When you think you have learned it all, you might as well quit......Even as professionals the saying lies true.
Here are some great thoughts towards starting a business or just life lessons to think about:
~No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.
~You can learn great things from your mistakes when you aren’t busy denying them.
~Trying to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.
~Learn to love yourself first, instead of loving the idea of other people loving you.
^^ I love this one because, as you grow in your business in the age of social media, it can be very trying not to get wrapped around "fans" and "likes" before realizing that is not the answer to a long term career (Nor does it pay the bills).
All in all there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a hobbyist, and just because someone says you should become a professional doesn't mean you have to. When we tell you this is not easy and its just like starting up a REAL BUSINESS, we're not kidding (because it is a real business). Sometimes it is hard to get a question answered from a professional because most of us have been burned a time or two, or could just be busy, but Either way there are tons of groups and associations that would love to help!
Stay tuned and join our class mailing list for when we announce our next one!
So to all of you who are looking for a photographer that bests fits you;
Don’t think of cost. Think of value.
